Introducing PANORAMA

Nilpeter introduces a new integrated inkjet press. The global launch of the Nilpeter PANORAMA product-line, including the 5-colour DP-3 UV-InkJet unit will be a major attraction at LabelExpo 2015.

Commitment to Full Product Range

At the 2015 LabelExpo, Nilpeter will demonstrates its full commitment to digital printing. This is cemented with the world premiere of the new PANORAMA product line.

Simultaneously, Nilpeter continues to invest in the state-of-the-art technology centers in Europe, North America, and India in order to demonstrate the full product range to customers and partners in an ideal setting.

“Digital printing is of great importance to Nilpeter, and we are committed to deliver the best digital solution possible to this fast-growing segment of the label printing market”, says Nilpeter COO Peter Eriksen prior to the global launch of the Nilpeter PANORAMA product line.

Digital printing technology is a supplement to Nilpeter’s product portfolio, which predominantly comprises innovative solutions for conventional printing, especially within flexo and offset combination. As supplier of the broadest product range in the printing press industry, Nilpeter wishes to offer innovative solutions for any requirement to the label and flexible packaging segments.

In addition to PANORAMA, Nilpeter will display the latest, highly innovative flexo press, the FA-4*, at the Packprint Workshop in Hall 8.

Nilpeter introduces PANORAMA – the new digital product line

The new product line combines Nilpeter's expertise in web handling technology with advanced inkjet printing, workflow, and converting. This integrated approach to single-pass digital printing from a single supplier offers the user many operational benefits, including high performance and maximum up-time.

Designed for fast setups and quick job-turnaround, the PANORAMA produces a variety of label jobs in short-to-medium run lengths with minimum wastage. Label printers are well positioned to meet brand-owners’ demands for high quality labels, in line with global trends towards product diversification.

Nilpeter has adapted several of its inline finishing modules to digital production. This includes a web in-feed, varnishing unit, the innovative QC-Die-cutting system, smart matrix stripping, length slitting, and dual rewind. A mark sensor allows the precise re-inserting of webs for reverse printing, or overprinting of pre-printed webs, including variable data.

The PANORAMA product line has a maximum printing width of 322 mm (12.67 in) on up to 350 mm wide web. It prints up to 50 m/min (164 ft/min) using paper or filmic label laminates from 90 to 350 microns. This comparatively high level of productivity equates to 16.1 sq/m (173 sq/ft) per minute. High-definition UV-inks are used for CMYK, with an opaque white ink as standard for printing transparent films and metallic foils.

The PANORAMA print engine, DP-3, delivers market leading, consistent colour output using single-pass 600 dpi piezo printheads with 4-level greyscale imaging. A minimum droplet size of 3 picolitres allows small-dot halftones for true flesh tones and fine vignettes. The digital front-end uses advanced workflow management system. Users can match the majority of Pantone colours for spot colours to gain a wide colour gamut, aided by a colour editing tool. The workflow also includes superb typeface optimisation and automated step- and-repeat functions. Expanded options for vivid colour reproduction is also available.

The PANORAMA is highly reliable and supported with Nilpeter’s worldwide service setup, offering remote repair assistance, maintenance and trouble-shooting.

Packaging demos in the Nipeter FA-4* UV-flexo press

Nilpeter will support the PackPrint Workshop in Hall 8 at LabelExpo Europe 2015, showing live demonstrations of the FA-4* UV-flexo press. Besides high-quality labels, the FA-4* offers flexible packaging in short runs with various repeat lengths. An innovative sleeve system permits an extra-short web path, with easy loading of tooling and embellishments.

The FA-4*, with a web width of 420 mm (16.5 in) and a top speed of 175 m/min (574 ft/min), will run various sachet jobs. Nilpeter's Press Management Center (PMC) provides centralised control over the main press functions. It is operated by the Air Control Satellite (ACS) for wireless press operation, and Nilpeter's Automatic Plate Positioning Systems (APPS). Other features include a print-to-cylinder (P2C) register system and a two-dimension camera register system. Optimum chill drum positioning facilitates the printing of heat-sensitive substrates.

Nilpeter's CLEANINKING system for water-based or UV-cured flexo inks is included, plus quick-lock anilox rolls, and the PowerLink control system. Units that add value while minimising waste include Nilpeter's Quick-Change magnetic die module. It allows fast release of flexible dies, off-press die preparation, and easy-load tooling. Options include freely-positioned rotary UV-screen, hot and cold foil printing.

The FA-4* will use inks and laminating adhesives from Flint Group’s Flexocure Ancora range to achieve high performance, low migration UV levels. The material is a direct food approved multi-layer laminate from Synthogra consisting of a polyester layer on the outside, a thin metallized layer in the middle and a polyethylene layer on the inside. After printing, the film is over-laminated.
