Shaping the Future of Packaging with Sustainable Precision

The main objective of Nilpeter’s sustainability strategy
is to reduce our CO2 footprint by addressing every area of operations.
We are working to drive sustainability forward
– to benefit Nilpeter, our employees, our customers, and
the global environment.

Nilpeter’s continuous journey towards sustainability
We start by looking at ourselves. Then we consider, how we can actively evolve the whole value chain, to achieve a much greater impact on our carbon footprint, together with all stakeholders.

The Nilpeter sustainability way

Main Areas

At Nilpeter, each factory takes ownership of its environmental impact and commits
to embedding sustainability into its daily operations. A product’s life cycle leaves a
footprint – from sourcing of components to manufacturing, assembly, delivery, and after sales. True sustainability starts, when environmental impact is considered from the design stage, and it finishes long after the product has been delivered to the customer.

Operations

Nilpeter is a true global player with sales, service, and production – at multiple sites.
The goal at all sites is to create a healthy and friendly environment for
our employees and visitors. For example, the dining area is located in the middle of the production floor. This is only possible through maintaining a healthy indoor climate, where offices and production floor standards are considered equally.

All Nilpeter sites continuously undertake investment in new energy-saving solutions, related to managing air quality, heating/cooling, and overall energy consumption.

Manufacturing and Assembly

All parts of Nilpeter’s manufacturing processes adhere to the same global standards.
High levels of safety and a healthy manufacturing environment are the first priority.
The Nilpeter manufacturing process uses the latest automation and robotics
technologies, combined with our traditional skilled craftsmanship to ensure
maximum productivity and the highest level of quality. This approach delivers
the lowest possible carbon footprint.

Nilpeter in both Denmark and the USA operate the same modern, flexible manufacturing
system (FMS), ensuring a one-to-one correspondence between our global
manufacturing sites. The FMS is continuously updated with the latest features
to minimise waste and maximise productivity.

The assembly process is improved to minimise time and energy consumption, i.e.
by eliminating the final assembly at the factory and move it to the customer
facility. In this way, the assembly time is reduced by up to 40%, and making a substantial
impact on the assembly carbon footprint and the overall sustainability target.

Product

Quality products have a longer lifetime and are the most sustainable solution – both economically and environmentally. The printing presses are designed with a high degree of standardisation and automation in mind. This provides clear benefits in the sourcing and manufacturing process, and thereby results in a much lower carbon footprint.
Production waste and errors are continuously minimised, making the product increasingly sustainable. All printing presses are designed and manufactured to the highest level of quality, optimising the performance, efficiency, and durability after installation.

Life Cycle

All Nilpeter products are designed and built to last a lifetime. And, when the theoretical
lifetime is expired, we extend it even further through preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and trade-in programs, that secure the presses a new life. With these goals in mind, designing and manufacturing have a clear sustainable impact – on both the environment and our customers’ bottom lines.

Partners and Suppliers

We insist that our external partners and suppliers qualify as “Best in Class”. This is our expectation: Parts are manufactured and delivered under the most sustainable conditions and to the highest level of quality. All Nilpeter suppliers must adhere to their own CO2 emission reduction goals and yearly report improvements and initiatives for further emission reductions.

Customers

At Nilpeter, we try to set an ambitious example for others by always prioritising sustainability in our decision-making – from design concept to after sales service.
The largest carbon footprint is generated, when Nilpeter presses are producing labels and packaging. Therefore, we aim to deliver and service our products efficiently and to the highest possible level of quality to keep this footprint as small as possible.
We encourage our customers to invest in efficient, high quality production equipment, that generates the least possible production waste, has a long lifespan, and thus, creates the lowest possible CO2 footprint. We are aware, that it takes investment to ensure maximum sustainability. This has always been a priority for Nilpeter, and we believe this mindset will work for our customers, too.

Green Thinking

Becoming sustainable is a continuous process. We constantly keep track of the latest developments in terms of “green thinkin”. In that way, we are sure to provide you with innovative, sustainable presses.

We collaborate closely with FINAT to support the sustainability trend. The FINAT Sustainability, Recycling, and Regulatory Affairs Committees are actively working to inform members, initiate new projects, and to represent the common interest of the members towards decision makers at a European level.
