Thai: New MO-4 makes label printing even more attractive at Ellerhold
With the installation of two MO-4 offset presses, the Ellerhold Group is expanding its label division at the two locations in Zirndorf and Glcksburg, Germany.
The ultra-modern combination printing presses feature five offset and three flexo units as well as a screen unit – all inline. In Zirndorf, Ellerhold produces offset-printed, embossed labels for wine, with screen printing in rainbow colours plus high-build varnish. In Glcksburg they produce no-label look vodka labels with screen printed White as primer, and offset fonts.
Immo Brodersen, Sales Manager at Glckburg, explains the possibilities of printing and finishing on the MO-4, “We can use several foils at the same time. This creates a kind of 3-D effect when combined with matt and glossy films”. Customers from the food industry also appreciate the application of metallic cold foil and subsequent printing. All rainbow colours can be realized without costly tools. Cosmetics companies often combine label printing with the lamination of soft-touch films for a velvety feel.
No-label look without wrinkles
The Cast & Cure technology is ideally suited for the rotary printing on the MO-4 and can be realized relatively cost-efficiently. On the label, a variety of patterns, structures, and holographic effects are created by a special printing technique, in which the light breaks as in prisms. Energy drinks have already been positioned with such labels in the Asian market. Or high-quality beverage bottles with Cast & Cure labels made tamper-evident. If a relief varnish should simulate water drops on the cola bottle or a textured varnish the shell of an orange on the juice bottle – the MO-4 prints and improves the label in one operation. The customers of the no-label look (Clear on Clear) of the MO-4 are particularly impressed, as transparent films are white-coated in screen printing and can then be printed in many ways. This way, design and fonts can be presented very well on juice drums or whiskey bottles.
